little green raincoat
blends into the woods
concealed beneath the fern
elusive in the shadows
runs away
from the dark

arrives at a house
door swung wide open
lured in by a quiet song
path carved by flickering light
sneaks in
without a sound

follows the orange glow
draws near now to warmth
down the hall and in the room
the fire has escaped its bounds

CRASH

struck from above
falling debris
sweltering heat
creaking structure
roaring flame
desperation

runs away
from the light

into the woods
